[Resolved] Does yay have a dry-run option like -p of pacman.

I was using cower with some self written Bash scripts. And I've been manually updating packages with 'makepkg -sic' ever since cower died. But it just became too much. Against better judgement, I installed yay just now, to update AUR packages. Just the AUR packages with yay -Sua. But WTF is the dry-run switch / option? The -p switch / option that pacman has: pacman -Syyup.

You basically get what amounts to a dry run when being prompted which AUR packages you want to include and then Ctrl+Cing out. Which usecase do you envision where that isn't sufficient?

Check the pacman manpage, read up what the second "y" does, then stop using it unless you *actually* mean to.
This also sets you up for a partial update w/ the next "pacman -S foo", so don't do this at all!
Use checkupdates.

Afaict "yay -Qu" will query updates, but I don't actually know what it does.

From the man page :

Passing two --refresh or -y flags will force a refresh of all package databases, even if they appear to be up-to-date.

Enlighten me. Because I do not see the issue with the partial updates.

It's only to fix existing database problems.
