My bank - The Royal Bank of Scotland has decided only to support Firefox. I have been using Bon Echo until today to access my bank account online, but not any more. I have called their helpline and they tell me that they only support browsers that they can obtain support for. Because Bon Echo isn't the "real thing" then I cannot use it to do my online banking  It seems that I will have to install opera of mozilla for this task.
I know there was a discussion on the subject of the trademark issue, and this is a side effect that I had not anticipated. I would be interested to hear of others experiencing similar problems.

Why don't you just "spoof" your User Agent? Something like that should do the trick: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/59/

Try going into about:config and changing
general.useragent.extra.firefox
from -"BonEcho/2.0"
to "Firefox/2.0"
fck art, lets dance.

Besides changing the useragent in about:config, also consider switching banks. A bank that does these kinds of checks is a stupid bank. My bank checks for the mozilla string, which is the same for firefox, epiphany, galeon and the thing called Bon Echo. Back in the days when they only supported Internet Explorer, you would receive a warning about that your browser that isn't IE5.5 or higher, but they would never ever block you out from their site because your browser is unsupported.

My bank supports everything I've tried. Using links just now and it's working fine. HBOS is the way forward.

Thanks of all of the tips. I have gone in and changed the user agent and it works a treat. Mind you, I have installed Opera, having not used it for a very long time and I must say that I am quite impressed. At least the choice is now in my hands and not the banks ![]()

I'm glad you solved your problem, however I've personally used this addon and it's awesome. I used to use that to access my online classes because I was using beta versions of Firefox and they didn't support it. Works wonders and is super easy.
