How to switch between workspaces?
I know that ctrl+alt+f#'s switces between consoles, but is there a similar shortcut sequence to switch between virtual desktops (workspaces) ?

Oh, I'm using gnome, the latest version in pacman, probably 2.16?

ctrl + alt + left/right.
You can change this in System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts
