New install on a Lenovo Slim Pro 7, everything works great out of the box except for audio. Between 1% & 100%, the audio plays at 100%. At 0% audio is muted as expected. Above 100%, normal audio level increases are observed.
Not sure which logs would be relevant, but if someone with experience can tell me what to pull to help, I'd be happy.
The only relevant thing I've found online says wait for a kernel update, and this was six years ago.
Thanks.

So what's the problem if sound works?
What do you use to measure sound level? What sound infrastructure do you use: PulseAudio, PipeWire, Jack, or only Alsa?
What audio driver do you use (post output of command: " lspci -nnk | grep -A 3 -i audio ") ?
Offline
i'm using pipewire-pulse and pipewire-jack. The problem is that the sound is *loud* even when the system is showing volume at 25%. The volume level is static between 1 & 100%. Same decibel level until i exceed 100%. Then there id sn sudible increase in volume.
lspci -nnk | grep -A 3 -i audio

Did you tried how it is on linux-lts kernel? That might be new issue of new 6.5 kernel (among other issues)...

Done and done, reported other as duplicate. Apologies.

After further investigation, this is not a kernel issue. I've also found there's only one way to control the volume
amixer -c1 set PCM,0 ...or to open alsamixer and manually adjust the PCM channel volume from there.
side note, when adjusting pcm volume, the reported system volume (polybar module) is inconsistent with volume levels displayed ion alsamixer (off by 15 or so percent).
another side note, audio level changes function as expected through bluetooth headphones. it is only the laptop speakers that have issues.

Moving to Newbie Corner by request.

I got the same behaviour
More information:
The laptop has 4 speakers: two front and two rear.
In 2.1 mode, both play, but the rear ones do not respond to volume control - they always play at 100% volume (only at 0 they do not play).
In 4.0 mode, only the front ones play (the rear ones do not respond to the volume control in alsamixer and are simply silent).
Kernel - linux-lts
Sound - pipewire
DE - KDE Plasma (no KMix)

I have the same problem with volume control, I can change from bluetooth speaker properly but the internal 4 speaker I can only change in the individual app that is playing the media and not from the gnome title bar (which is either 0 (mute) or 100(max) anything in between the level is the same.
