Is this normal...

Every time I install a program from the AUR with yay, it always ends in

(3/3) Updating the desktop file MIME type cache...

and then gives me a prompt.


Should I be expecting something more or is this normal?

Please see bullets 1 and 3 here then use the edit button to revise your post.  When you do, post the full and complete command and output of a case when this happens.  Is the package installed after that (i.e., does it work)?

This should also happen with packages installed from the repos, if they trigger the relevant pacman hook, id est include a desktop file in this case. Run and read

man 5 alpm-hooks
