After the latest update, my cups local system fails to print to a printer connected to a local (LAN) printserver with the following local status message for the printer (visible in the local cups web interface, i.e. localhost:631):
Idle - "File "/usr/lib/cups/backend/implicitclass" not available: No such file or directory"I have never seen this problem before. What is this implicitclass file that does not seem to exist on my system?
Edit:
Apparently implicitclass was removed from the latest editions of cups-filters (2.0.0-1) which is what is installed on my local system. The print server runs linux-lts and has the 1.28.17-4 version isntalled, which indeed includes the implictclass file missing the local installation.
Should I downgrade cups? Seems a bit risky, but then again, I can't print right now...

So, problem was solved by installing cups-browsed, which indeed includes the missing implicitclass file, and deleting/adding again the remote printer. Actually running cups-browsed caused problems, so I stopped the daemon and everything seems to work now.
I would like to know why this happened, but now that I have a printer working I can also live in blissful ignorance
