[SOLVED] Horizontal screen tearing XFCE scaling AMDGPU

1x everything looks very small on my 1920x1200 screen. So, what I did was:
- Make window scaling in XFCE appearance settings 2x
- And also make display scaling in display settings 1.5x (this makes everything smaller)

The result is very well scaled everything.

However, if I change the display scaling _at all_, irrespective of the window scaling, I get horizontal screen tearing.

There is no tearing with 1x everything, with or without a compositor.

There is no tearing at 1.5x scaling only when I run it without a compositor

I have tried all values of vblank_mode in xfwm4, and all values for backend and vsync in picom. Tearing isn't fixed.

I have enabled TearFree in Xorg as given in the AMDGPU arch wiki, the result is the same with or without it.

I use the modesetting driver

$ lspci -vv | curl -F'file=@-' http://0x0.st
http://0x0.st/H4QN.txt

SOLUTION:

Install xf86-video-amdgpu instead of modesetting.  As on october 2023, Xorg modesetting causes horizontal tearing on HP Pavilion Aero 13 (Ryzen 5600U with Radeon graphics)
