KDE: xorg broke DPI and font size

Hello everybody.

I use a notebook with a 14 inch monitor and 1920x1080 resolution and I use KDE Plasma on Xorg. My xorg-server is 21.1.8-2. My problem is: the default DPI is 96, and default global scale is 100%, but my screen is all zoomed. I have already researched and tested several apparent solutions, but all without success.

[tbernardes@ArchKDE ~]$ cat .Xresources
Xft.dpi: 96

[tbernardes@ArchKDE ~]$ xdpyinfo | grep -B2 resolution
screen #0:
  dimensions:    1920x1080 pixels (508x285 millimeters)
  resolution:    96x96 dots per inch

My first attempt was to follow Arch Linux Wiki to set display size and DPI. After, I tried other references:

To check the correct dpi, I used the DPI Love. Here are additional sources (from ArchWiki) that I checked to try to resolve the issue:
SDDM, xprofile, HiDPI, X resources  and xinit.

Now I feel like I'm going in circles. I sincerely hope someone can help me find a solution.

Thank you very much.

Re: KDE: xorg broke DPI and font size

"zoomed" in or out?
Please post the output of

xrandr --verbose

and your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General

The physical resolution should be more along ~160DPI so setting the logical resolution to 96DPI would make everything too small.

Zoom in. After logging in, my screen is enlarged.

I found that my correct DPI is 157, using DPI Love and configuring /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-monitor.conf, but the logical resolution to 96DPI is not maintained. This is the problem. I've tried different settings.

Re: KDE: xorg broke DPI and font size

Please use

tags, not "quote" tags. Edit your post in this regard.

Why are you trying to set the DPI to 96? That would render everything almost half the size it's supposed to be.
But "Zoomed in" would suggest the system renders on a higher DPI than you anticipate.
Sanity check: what's your default font size? Anything 9-11pt?

I suspect you're running into Qt adjusting to the physical resolution, you can control that w/ https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HiDPI#GUI_toolkits but I recommend to *not* do that, abandon the idea of 96dpi and configure the system properly around it's actual DPI (i "properly" - DPI agnostic)

Edit: you most likely also want to drop xf86-video-intel
