Can't launch DWM

Recently installed Arch fresh on a Virtualbox VM, along with KDE Plasma. Have been trying to get DWM to work, and used vim to amend 'exec dwm' to the top of my xinitrc file, but when I log out, restart, shut down, etc., nothing happens and I am still stuck in KDE Plasma. There's probably a myriad of things I have missed here, but any help would be much appreciated. If it is also any help, there is was no "exec startplasma-x11" when i first used vim to edit the file.

Also exec dwm to the top of your .xinitrc would be wrong in any and all cases: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xinit#xinitrc -- note the note boxes
