Hello there,
I use the MSI Modern 15 A11MU. The laptop has a DC rating 3.25 Amps at 20V for USB C and has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port.
Now I don't really know why but it just wont charge from the usb C port. I used
zgrep /proc/config.gzand
lsmod | grep usci; lsmod grep typecto see if the typec and usci modules exist but nothing turned up. I am not sure what is the problem soo... Can someone please help.
Thankyou!!

Hi,
Is the problem is only charging the battery (and when charger is connected laptio has power)?
1. Did you try to change usb-c port (if exist)?
2. Did you try to change the charger?
3. If you can start the laptop, check in the BIOS if anything is configured to not.
4. Check the values of:
* /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_stop_threshold
* /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_start_threshold
* /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_behaviour
* Good formatted problem description will cause good and quick solution ![]()

For clarification: are you trying to charge another device (eg. your phone) through that port or are you seeking to charge the notebook using usb-c?
In case of the latter: the notebook seems to come w/ a dedicated AC adapter w/ a circular plug and the manual, next to the usb-c ports, explicitly points out to always use the AC adapter that came w/ the notebook to charge it.

Oh, really? For some reason I am unable to find sufficient documentation on my laptop. Well I have a power bank that can output 65W and I've been trying to use it since the battery health on this laptop has degraded to the point of giving me just shy of 2 hours of battery life. The only reason I asked is because there is a sticker that says that it's rated ~ 65W through usb C only.

You didn't answer the question, but I assume you're trying to charge the notebook over USB-C and I assume that also doesn't work while no OS is booted?

It looks like your model does not support PD charging according to the specifications: https://www.msi.com/Business-Productivi … cification
You can look for a usb-c to barrel plug adapter/cable that matches your laptop power jack, though.
