[SOLVED] Surround audio interface brakes ingame stereo sound RL

Hello all,
I use a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 and I'm super happy with it, it works with any program without problems. However, when I play Rocket League via HeroicLauncher, the sound is no longer right. I no longer hear sounds that are "behind me", but only those in a small radius in front of me. When I connect my headphones directly to the PC, this problem is gone.

I already tried to set "enable-remixing = no" in my pulse config, but it didn't help.

I would be very happy about any suggestions.

Re: [SOLVED] Surround audio interface brakes ingame stereo sound RL

Which makes sense if the surround interface is configured for surround and you give it just stereo to output to. During the problematic situation what's your output for

pactl list cards
pactl list sinks
pactl list sink-inputs

? Post that in code tags

Re: [SOLVED] Surround audio interface brakes ingame stereo sound RL

This isn't the output while playing Rocket League is it? In any case all of this is normal. What do you want? Do you plug in a stereo headset into your surround interface and want to still announce to applications that they should solely use the stereo channels, instead of 4-channels the focusrite gives them? You can allocate a remap sink

pacmd load-module module-remap-sink sink_name="Stereo-Focusrite" master=alsa_output.usb-Focusrite_Scarlett_4i4_USB_D885Y2308129CF-00.analog-surround-40 channels=2 channel_map=front-right,front-left master_channel_map=front-right,front-left

and then move the applications in question to the remap sink so they can only "see" a stereo card. If this fixes things you cann add the command without the leading pacmd to the end of your /etc/pulse/default.pa like so

.nofail
load-module module-remap-sink sink_name="Stereo-Focusrite" master=alsa_output.usb-Focusrite_Scarlett_4i4_USB_D885Y2308129CF-00.analog-surround-40 channels=2 channel_map=front-right,front-left master_channel_map=front-right,front-left

Re: [SOLVED] Surround audio interface brakes ingame stereo sound RL

Yes it is the output while playing Rocket League. I don't know why it isn't showing up or what to do about is.
And I guess I can't use the remap sink then because I can't move a application I don't see right? hmm

Edit: I left pavucontrol open while starting the game and the game is actually showing up as playback but only while with the mouse hovered over the game / in game

Re: [SOLVED] Surround audio interface brakes ingame stereo sound RL

find a way to make the game not mute itself when losing focus, or prepare a command of some sort. since you can't move by application name but just by index that's a bit of a conoundrum. can you get me the list sinkiinputs output with rocketleague present? E.g.

sleep 5 && pactl list sink-inputs

in a background terminal or so.

Re: [SOLVED] Surround audio interface brakes ingame stereo sound RL

After an amount of time I'm very ashamed of I figured out that restarting pulseaudio, running your command and setting the remapped channel as default it now works like a charm.
Thank you so so much <3
