Can anyone please help me with wxpython2.8 installation?
The AUR at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/wxpython2.8 is flagged out of date.

Why do you need it? Did you read the AUR-comments?

@Stefan Husmann Yes, I read the comments. I need it for trying papagayo (https://morevnaprojectdev.gumroad.com/l/papagayo-ng).
This version is supposed to work with python 3. But when I ran the appimage I got the error:
papagayo-ng.py:19: UserWarning: You either don't have wx installed or you are using wxphoenix. Please test this with wx Version 2.8 before reporting errors!

So this six years old appimage does not ship all libraries it needs to make the program work? WTF!

The problem is not with Papagayo, wxpython is unable to provide a single package for Linux (https://wxpython.org/pages/downloads/)

Python is supposed to run the same code on many OSes , why would they have a separate download for linux ?
Archlinux repos do include python-wxpython which retrieves the sourcecode from PyPi .
Have you tried installing that package then starting Papagayo ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Actually there is a github page with Papagayo-ng repository: https://github.com/morevnaproject-org/papagayo-ng. This apparently doesn't need wxpython.
