First time dual boot queries

I have been using arch but till now it was installed on a completely wiped system. There wasn't any other OS in it. I have setup another machine but this time instead of removing windows I chose to dual boot. Installation is done, most of the things are looking good. I am able to use both OS.

I wanted to know whether this is how it supposed to use, When I have to use windows I need to press F12 to go into boot setup and then enable Secure boot, save, exit and start I will be into windows OS.

To go into arch linux I need to go into boot setup again then disable Secure boot, save, exit and start => I will be into grub bootloader menu then I will select Arch linux at the top and boot into Arch linux.

Just wanted to confirm that's how people use dual boot?

Re: First time dual boot queries

One can enable Secure /boot for Arch Linux.  One can disable Secure Boot for MS Windows.   I would venture that most people pick one or the other and do not change the state of Secure Boot being enabled when they want to change to the other OS.

As an aside, If you are dual booting MS Windows, ensure you disable Windows "Fast Boot" (not to be confused with the uEFI/Bios settings for fast boot).  MS Windows fast boot is really a hibernation mode to provide the illusion that Windows can boot quickly.

Edit:  Incidentally, I have Secure Boot turned off on my system and have configured Windows not to use it.  I actually booted Windows for the first time in over a year so I could run a Windows only tool for configuring SightLine video encoders.  Come on guys, we are well into the 21st century.

Re: First time dual boot queries

Actually, I don't see windows in the grub menu. So I can only launch it after enabling secure boot.
The boot sequence is like this:
1. grub_efi
2. windows_bootloader
3. ...(etc)
When secure boot is enabled, then grub_uefi probably gets skipped and windows_bootloader gets started.
