Kitty does not show text font

For some reason kitty does not show the font, I don't understand why this error occurs.

The error message is this:

I have deleted kitty's config, changed the font, reinstalled the fonts and it doesn't work.

The only solution that "works" is to delete the '/usr/share/fontconfig' directory but the font settings are lost to the rest of the system software.

Which font doesn't work? Or does this happen with *every* font? Post the relevant Kitty config you're using.

You can upload files following the tip in the 1st link below and also feed the output of fc-conflist into 0x0.st this way.

Edit: and try to disable ligatures.

Let's assume that's some poweline PS1, let's assume you've some bogus font installed, let's assume you're resolving that font for some fringe emoji…
Does "shell zsh -f" work resp. if you move away your ~/.zshrc ?

Do you get the same kitty behavior w/
a) a fresh user account
b) a different environment (is this currently a wayland or X11 session?)

Btw. the kitty font list only displays the DejaVu Mono variants - you also have the regular DejaVu Sans/Serif fonts installed, do you?
