Shortcut Key Issue

I'm encountering an issue on my Arch Linux setup where pressing Alt+Right triggers the display configuration and adjusts the brightness instead of performing the intended action.

Specifics:

Problem: When pressing Alt+Right, the system initiates the display configuration and adjusts the brightness.
    Expected Outcome: Lower brightness
Troubleshooting: I've attempted to change it using xBindKeys but it did not work. I've tried researching and even ChatGPT but nothing helped me

System Information:

OS: Arch Linux (6.5.9) Basically a fresh install
    Desktop Environment/Window Manager: [KDE w/ X11]
    GPU: GeForce 610m
    CPU: intel core i5 m580

Request for Assistance:
I'm seeking guidance on how to reassign or troubleshoot the Alt+Right shortcut to bypass the display configuration perform the intended action.

Re: Shortcut Key Issue

kcmshell5 kglobalaccel

What is the shortcut bound to and why would you expect it to lower the backlight??

Re: Shortcut Key Issue

In Windows 10, when I employ the keystroke combination "Fn + right arrow," it leads to a reduction in brightness. Conversely, within the Arch operating system, executing the same key combination not only diminishes the brightness but also prompts the display configuration interface. I am seeking to prevent the display configuration from appearing when adjusting the brightness. Here's a screenshot [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gtaWsH … sp=sharing]

Re: Shortcut Key Issue

Fn != Alt …
You can test the key you're actually generating w/ "xev -event keyboard" - though that doesn't work when it's grabbed, so not in a KDE session.
Then reconfigure the shortcut.

Re: Shortcut Key Issue

I apologize for the confusion in my previous message. I mistakenly referred to the 'alt + right arrow' combination instead of the intended 'Fn + left arrow' key combination.

To be transparent, I'm currently facing difficulty in reconfiguring the shortcut. As I am seeking assistance in this matter, I lack the knowledge required to make the necessary adjustments for the 'Fn + left arrow' shortcut on my system. Any guidance or instructions on how to reconfigure this specific keyboard shortcut would be sincerely appreciated

Re: Shortcut Key Issue

KDE has a shortcut daemon, as previously suggested you can use "kcmshell5 kglobalaccel" to configure it (or seek it in systemsettings)
There you can reconfigure the action bound to that key, probably XF86MonBrightnessUp and XF86MonBrightnessDown - but that's just a guess.
As also explained, you can query those keys w/ "xev -event keyboard" but not while they're being grabbed (by the shortcut daemon), hence if you have to do this, you'd need to do it outside a KDE session (eg. openbox) so they're not grabbed by kglobalaccel when running xev.

Re: Shortcut Key Issue

Try "kcmshell5 kglobalaccel5" (and see the suggested --list), I've no KDE installed and run this from distant memory only.

Edit: resolved how?

Re: Shortcut Key Issue

The solution was indeed within the settings; however, it appears that I might have overlooked the precise location or perhaps overlooked the option entirely. I regret any inconvenience caused. As a newcomer to the Linux environment, there may have been elements I overlooked due to my limited familiarity with the system. I appreciate your assistance and understanding.
