@arojas, can I ask you why important apps like dolphin, ark, gwenview, okular and ktorrent are not uploaded yet, while others that I didn't even know existed like kweather or kontrast are already in the kde-unstable repository?

Because there are only so many hours in the day and I do have a day job.

Because there are only so many hours in the day and I do have a day job.

I understand that and you are doing a great job as a KDE maintainer. I just found it curious why probably the most important KDE app, next to Konsole, was not yet uploaded while other less important ones are already uploaded.

Have you followed the instructions from the wiki?

Yes. I had done this before installing Plasma 6, and also checked that the instructions hadn't updated since. My config matched the wiki's.

Really? Because it's a mess here, especially Wayland session.

Yup. Couple of Plasmoids I was using hasn't been ported yet (that's fine), Kwin only reliably crashes when I use edit mode, and the application dashboard (fullscreen application drawer) has some issues, but otherwise it's great on my machine.

That's the Qt5 version.

upstream is now qt6, and the pkgbuild is correct to cacht it, you need enable [kde-unstable] for build it

Dolphin 24.01.75 is in the repo now, but it seems to pull phonon-qt5-backend and with it a lot of kf5 qt5 dependencies... i don't think this is correct.

im not sure. but the 24.01.75 tag in invent gitlabs points to qt6/kf6

Are you sure? If you look at PKGBUILD changes, and if am not wrong, there are no packages with qt5 dependencies there: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … af2367d37b

Ok, i saw you edited your answer. I am trying Plasma 6 on a VirtualBox machine. I didn´t install dolphin package yet because I want to avoid qt5 packages.

Noisy week!

More packages are added, kde gear is among them and things have calmed down. Plasma-framework5 is gone, same for the boot delay. Shut Down is missing under Power/Session in application menu. Despite the fact that we have a root password, root access (su:#) is not stable.

The rest sounds good,

Last -Syu seems to have broken most of KDE/Plasma with this error:

Yes, don't update yet until the rest of the KDE apps are updated to Beta 1.

Last -Syu seems to have broken most of KDE/Plasma

To be able to get back into your Plasma session, try to switch to a different VT and:

# pacman -Rdd kactivities
# pacman -Syu plasma-activities

Then reboot.

Failing that, downgrade kuserfeedback to 5.245.0

Most apps will be broken, like Spectacle, Dolphin, etc. You'll need to build these from source.. or just wait

After this morning update, it seems that Plasma Beta 1 is mostly working, including dolphin. Thanks and great job Archcan_98 The biggest bug I have found so far is the plasma 5 themes available don't work in plasma 6.

jpg wallpapers don't show up. They do on neon unstable.

Edit: I fixed this by going into Settings -> Default applications -> file associations.
For some reason the known type of jpeg only had *.jfif as filename patterns. After adding in *.jpg and restarting the issue was resolved. Not sure why this happened.

We are making big progress and beta one appears to be a good one. We also Timeshifted a few times. A JPEG image is not working here too: Image migrates, but apply pattern does not react.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open Task Switcher module of System Settings
2. open the combobox, choose "Thumbnail grid" and apply the change
3. press alt+tab and a notification appears saying:

"The Window Switcher installation is broken, resources are missing.
Contact your distribution about this."

Can anyone else reproduce this? Any idea on how to fix?
