PC won't boot Arch Linux, black screen and USB devices turn off

Hello, I am having issues with booting Arch Linux on my PC. As said in the subject, there is nothing but a black screen, and USB devices all turn off at once. By trying out the "acpi=off", as well as "nolapic" boot parameters, the PC booted. But the NVIDIA drivers we're missing, tho, I chose NVIDIA proprietary drivers in the archinstall installation progress. I also tried disconnecting all USB devices when booting, also disconnecting the monitor cable - no luck! Please, help me out!

Specs:
NVIDIA RTX 2080
Intel i9 9900k

Re: PC won't boot Arch Linux, black screen and USB devices turn off

this is why an installer is a bad idea because you have no idea how your system is configured and as such cannot troubleshoot or maintain it correctly, and in this instance it just plain doesnt work.
i would suggest following the install guide and then:

follow this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA#Installation
and be sure not to miss this step:

arch wiki wrote:

5. Remove kms from the HOOKS array in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and regenerate the initramfs. This will prevent the initramfs from containing the nouveau module making sure the kernel cannot load it during early boot.

be sure to try this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … de_setting

do you have integrated graphics ? i know for a fact that you will get a black screen if you do:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … grated_GPU

if none of that helps disable modesetting following this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel … odesetting
and post a journal and xorg log from a failed/black_screen boot using code tags or pastebin service

Re: PC won't boot Arch Linux, black screen and USB devices turn off

What's the context of this?
Has the system never worked? Or did it work, then you ran an update (where you forgot to mount the /boot partition) and now things fail?

Can you still boot the multi-user.target (2nd link below) along "nomodeset"?
Does the install iso still boot on the hardware?

What exactly do you mean when you say "USB devices all turn off"?

It worked, but only with acpi=off, and nolapic, nothing else. I shouldnt even say that it worked with nolapic, it was stuck on “Couldn’t find an IRQ for device NVIDIA” or something like that.

No, I can’t boot the system with multi-user.target along with “nomodeset”

Yes, the installation iso boots on the hardware with default kernel parameters.

By “USB devices all turn off” that their “RGB pro gamer” lighting turn off and I cannot interact with the computer by using the input devices at all.

From the install iso, please post your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Sorry for the delay.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p2132053
You'd be fourth.

Were you trying to boot the iso, generally from a removable (slow) device or an installed system from an internal (fast) drive?
