Pacman -Syu replacing packages

When I tried updating my system I got the following prompts:

:: Synchronizing package databases...
core                                                          132.9 KiB   664 KiB/s 00:00 [#####################################################] 100%
extra                                                           8.3 MiB  6.36 MiB/s 00:01 [#####################################################] 100%
multilib                                                      141.4 KiB  4.60 MiB/s 00:00 [#####################################################] 100%
:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace appstream-qt with extra/appstream-qt5? [Y/n] n
:: Replace libkdcraw with extra/libkdcraw5? [Y/n] n
resolving dependencies...
:: There are 2 providers available for glfw:
:: Repository extra
   1) glfw-wayland  2) glfw-x11

Enter a number (default=1): 1
looking for conflicting packages...
:: libkdcraw5 and libkdcraw are in conflict. Remove libkdcraw? [y/N] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: libkdcraw5 and libkdcraw are in conflict (libkdcraw<24)

Will any of these cause issues in the future? Thanks in advance! :DD

Re: Pacman -Syu replacing packages

I would suggest you switch to the KDE apps with 5 at the end...
For example libkdcraw5 is in the Extra repo. libkdcraw is not anymore. This is only in the repo "KDE-Unstable"

Yes.  Follow the recommendation of Pacman.  Accept its 'Y' suggestion rather than overriding it with 'n'..  Edit:   My reading comprehension is off today.
Edit2:  I would override it and say 'y'

I think you were right originally.  pacman's original prompt was:

:: Replace libkdcraw with extra/libkdcraw5? [Y/n] n

provided with the n response

...
looking for conflicting packages...
:: libkdcraw5 and libkdcraw are in conflict. Remove libkdcraw? [y/N] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: libkdcraw5 and libkdcraw are in conflict (libkdcraw<24)

So from my reading pacman only changes its recommended Y to N after its initial recommendation has been rejected.

Re: Pacman -Syu replacing packages

Thank you all for answering!! I'll update my system today and replace the old packages. I just wanted to make sure I don't screw anything up since I haven't set up system snapshots for backup and recovery yet. Cheers smile)

Re: Pacman -Syu replacing packages

good luck and yes, you should have a backup.
PS: next time, you can put your code output in a "code" bracket instead of marking it yellow
