[SOLVED] X11 failing to start up [Nvidia Laptop]

Hello, for some reason today I logged on and I can't seem to start up my x session.

Logs will be posted below.

Some context:
- I do not use a login manager, I log in with the basic start up screen.
- When I log in, I get the errors:

aayush@192.168.1.7's password:
Last login: Sat Nov 18 13:45:29 2023
xset:  unable to open display ""
Cannot open display "default display"
Unable to connect to X11 display. Is $DISPLAY set?
xset:  unable to open display ""

- I have a NVIDIA GPU laptop.
- I have disabled the intel GPU on my laptop.
- I have an xprofile file and an xinitrc file. xprofile is in my home directory as a sym link, and the xinitrc file is located in my dotfiles folder.
- I have a zprofile file that sets environment variables.

Some more details for the problem:
1. When I log in and x11 is trying to start up, it will show that error (the one above).
2. Then it freezes and I try to cancel it with CTR C.
3. It will then cancel and I will attempt to run "startx", and the screen will go completely black.
4. I will then go to another TTY, and then switch back to see if anything would change but nothing did.
5. My terminal in the TTYT does not load my .zprofile file.
6. Everytime I log into a different tty, a x11 instance will try to run.

Things I have tried:
- I have remade the grub.conf file incase it was something to do with kernel parameters/ my nvidia card (since I include the nvidia drm kernel parameter).
- I have reinstalled the Nvidia drivers.
- I have tried adjusting my xprofile and xinitrc, but it does not seem to do anything.

Here is the Xorg log:

Re: [SOLVED] X11 failing to start up [Nvidia Laptop]

That server is running w/o any errors for 21s

- I have disabled the intel GPU on my laptop.

It's still in use and there're no outputs wired to the nvidia chip - there's the internal display and a DELL monitor on HDMI

5. My terminal in the TTYT does not load my .zprofile file.
6. Everytime I log into a different tty, a x11 instance will try to run.

5 seems very unlikely (assuming zsh is your login shell) and 6 means that the zprofile doesn't discriminate the TTYs.

Get rid of that config and run the server on the intel chip, the nvidia GPU doesn't seem to have any outputs, so you cannot avoid the intel chip anyway (unless you can deactivate it in the firmware, what's not reflected by that log)

ls -R /{etc,usr/share}/X11/xorg.conf*

Thank you for your help.

I removed all of the Nvidia stuff and I went back on Intel but it did not fix it.

I then realised I made some big mistakes in my configuration files for my zprofile and xinitrc.

It has been solved now!
