[SOLVED] KDE plasma power management not working / starting

you have to change the line 'TimeoutSec=5s' to higher value

╰─>$ bat /usr/lib/systemd/user/plasma-powerdevil.service
─────┬──────────────────────────────────────────────
   1 │ [Unit]
   2 │ Description=Powerdevil
   3 │ PartOf=graphical-session.target
   4 │ After=plasma-core.target
   5 │
   6 │ [Service]
   7 │ ExecStart=/usr/lib/org_kde_powerdevil
   8 │ Type=dbus
   9 │ BusName=org.kde.Solid.PowerManagement
  10 │ TimeoutSec=9sec
  11 │ Slice=background.slice

Re: [SOLVED] KDE plasma power management not working / starting

Hello. Thank you for this. I thought that my solution that I posted on my channel was the best one. I will try this one now. If I don't reply, it means that it worked. If I do reply, it means that it worked. This bug has been annoying me for quite some-time. I had to downgrade these packages. This bug is due to ddcutil updating to 2.0.0 or something.

Re: [SOLVED] KDE plasma power management not working / starting

You should edit the timeout after you have installed these latest versions of powerdevil & ddcutil, because the update resets it to 5s.

It is working but there is a logoff/login-requirement when you want to change the Power Profile option in the Systray.
And fine as in, you get screen brightness now that is working along Night Color.

So maybe not all-solved?

For the 3 energy options Power Save / Balanced / Performance that do reappear too, the slider will not hold i. e. I don't think it sets them while logged in. However drag that slider where you want it, maybe try a few times smile  then logout and login and the slider is set. Must be working that way, or how do you make sure the option is in fact in tact after the re-login?
If so, this is a workaround I can live with so a while, latest versions, 1 logoff-login required for changed things to come into effect.
No powerdevil cpu hassle or anything. Thanks for mentioning.

The above held only true for several hours. I do not know of any working fix or workoaround and tried all possible variations.
So, I downgrade the 1 packages again.

There is also another fix that anyone can try. Here is a video. I posted this fix. Perhaps combining the solutions may result in a better solution overall.
