Iomega ZIP 100 Drive

Hi,

I want to use an Iomage ZIP drive (parallel version) 100, I searched the web and found out that there are two modules for ZIP drives ppa and imm - as far as I have read my specific drive has to be used with the ppa driver. But the module is absent and the line in the kernel configuration file is commented. I tried to build a new kernel with this option set to m but I failed horribly. Although I compiled the kernel, it wouldn't work, there was no vmlinuz file?!

I'm a total newbie to kernel compilation/configuration - can someone out there give me a hint?

Thanks,
hightower

Re: Iomega ZIP 100 Drive

check your /dev folder it maybe recognized as hde#
i know when i use my cf disk in my pcmcia slot thats what it comes up as
i have a zip drive on my tower on the ide channel its recognized as hdc4
i havent figured out why never bothered to look in my /dev folder i have
hdc1 -  hdc63  i dont know why it creates so many block devices but the one that works for me is hdc4

check
dmesg |tail
after plugging in drive see whats there

Re: Iomega ZIP 100 Drive

There come no new devices up, after reboot there are no new device nodes, too. How can I compile the kernel with ppa support?

Re: Iomega ZIP 100 Drive

Hi,

I used this PKGBUILD out of the wiki to compile my kernel (with ppa as module), it worked great.
