This problem is not consistent. Sometimes it picks up just fine, other times it just forces me to restart.
The only thing that is remotely like an error message is when I start up my computer I will see an error message with "sound rules failed to start" this is a udevrule and a systemd unit file I have that makes it the default sink when i plug it in. The reason it fails is because x hasnt started yet so theres no session to work with. But, again, restarting seems to fix the issue so the error message seems pretty irrelevant. I dont even care if the sound rule runs because i can just switch the sink manually. But the problem is when its not even available as a sink to begin with, which makes me think the problem is with the kernel or udev
This is a logitech headset with a usb dongle. I know the kernel has an issue with crashing when you unplug them but I have yet to get a kernel panic
