Weird system freeze in some steam games

Hey guys,

i'm new in the forum, so if i am in the wrong thread i am really sorry.

To the subject: I run a arch linux build and in some games (mainly 4x for some reason) i get a weird system freeze.

Mainly in the game Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI but i had this problem in Age of Empires 2 and 4 also.

When i start Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War i get a normal loading screen and after a minute or so my audio is gone and my system froze like i can't move my cursor or very slowly. When im in Civ 6 it's only midgame after some time (like 4 hours or so) and in Age of empires its completely radom from first min in game to 1 hour in

I changed the kernel to zen and lts, didnt change anything.
I changed the display server to xorg and to wayland, still nothing.
I ran the games in native (Warhammer 40,000: Gladius runs native with no problems when i look into the protondb wiki), again nothing

Is there still a thing i might need to try or is there a known fix?
I searched the whole internet and found nothing really.

I run my system on btfrs with encryption, gnome is my DE, and i have a AMD GPU and CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 6700 XT)

Re: Weird system freeze in some steam games

Try disabling the dynamic power management for the RX7600XT: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ATI#Dy … management

I am presuming the CPU µcode is installed and loaded.

Seems like it wasnt it. Or could be that i did it wrong, i dont know.

I created a file named radeon-dpm.conf in /etc/modprobe.d with the contend options radeon dpm=0. I heard that i can pass kernel parameters like this

Check

cat /sys/class/drm/card?/device/power_dpm_state

Is the CPU microcode installed and loaded?

There is also https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Ryzen# … k_freezing.
