Kernel Update Sound Died?

Using ALSA.

alsamixer in X showed my volumes 0 and muted.

turn up volume and unmute still no sound????

kernel26 2.6.19-3

redid alsaconf it detects my card fine.

driver im using is snd-intel8x0

Well... becase I do not really know wehter your last sentence is a question or an statement:

Try this:

amixer set PCM 75 unmute
amixer set Master 75 unmute

can hear the volume barely but its all scratchy and nasty sounding.

cannot turn volume up anymore still some problem here

Boot to Windows XP everything works fine. something in the update broke my sound.
