Re: soundmixer - easy sound mixing.

Well unfortunally this more or less killed aoss for me... hmm before with aoss i got teamspeak working both mic and speakers but with this only the speakers would work hmm
and running enemy territory before with aoss produced a totally crappy and useless sound but with this I didn't even get that sad

Re: soundmixer - easy sound mixing.

to those who've had problems, try removing the /etc/profile.d/aoss.sh and let me know how you go.

Re: soundmixer - easy sound mixing.

Seems conflict with mutt.
After I install this pkg, I can't delete or read new mail in mutt.

It seems becouse of the "LD_PRELOAD="/usr/$LIB/libaoss.so"" settings.Anyone encountered it?

most likely unrelated, mutt doesnt use OSS as far as I know.

could you try doing

# tell me what this says
echo $LD_PRELOAD

# and then run
unset LD_PRELOAD

and then running mutt?

Re: soundmixer - easy sound mixing.

$ echo $LD_PRELOAD
/usr/$LIB/libaoss.so

After unset LD_PRELOAD,mutt runs ok。

Today I experienced some problems with Tremulous. I got choppy sound.
Cannot say whats the problem for this but it worked with my old dmix config.
Can someone reproduce this? You can simply get Tremulous from http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … ns=&SeB=nd

I too have been trying to get tremulous working.  My problem is that if I have anything that uses sound running (music, mumble for TS, anything) trem will run only it has no sound.

Any suggestions?

PS: first post, been using arch/lurking on here awhile...

Re: soundmixer - easy sound mixing.

iphitus: I had problems with sound playback in many applications that used OSS (Quake 3, Wine with OSS selected). Removing /etc/profile.d/aoss.sh worked for me! I have perfectly working sound, thanks to you.

Thanks.

Re: soundmixer - easy sound mixing.

Anyone tried this with cedega?

I can't get it to work. Flash9beta in firefox playing a flash video with sound, xmms/alsa playing and mplayer/alsa playing works fine (although there might exist a small audio delay in mplayer.. not sure about that yet). But when I try to play Red Alert 2 in cedega, I get no sound. I changed the alsa devices to "default" instead of hw, and I could use the sound volume controls in the game (they are greyed out if there's no sound support), but there was no sound playing.
If I change to OSS in cedega, and no other sound is playing before I start the game I get sound. However, all the other applications trying to use alsa can't access the device (it's busy).

Any ideas? neutral
