Unfixable Screen Tearing on Steam Games

Hey everyone,

I've been dealing with this annoying screen tearing. I'm running a 1660 Super, using Openbox and Picom. Tried adjusting settings in the game and with Nvidia, but can't seem to fix this issue. Any ideas would be a huge help.

Yes, I've already tried enabling VSync, forcing full composition pipeline, none of it's working.

Re: Unfixable Screen Tearing on Steam Games

Get rid of any nVIDIA configuration(s) in your $HOME and try this (keep VSync enabled inside game options).

Sounds like https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=291379 - try to disable unredirection in picom.

Re: Unfixable Screen Tearing on Steam Games

nb. that picom has an "unredir-if-possible-exclude" setting which allows you to isolate steam/wine/proton (depending on the available window properties)

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
