[SOLVED] KDE plasma theming issue: Breeze icons are black on black.

Breeze Bug
Breeze Bug
I get this problem from time to time where I have to either log out
and relogin to fix it or following a tip in the Archwiki.

$ rm ~/.config/Trolltech.conf
$ kbuildsycoca5 --noincremental

And then re-login.

I have tried reporting it to KDE directly but they say its an
downstream/local configuration problem.

Found the solution, https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/EmacsAsDaemon#h5o-17 this Emacs configuration was causing the issue.

Re: [SOLVED] KDE plasma theming issue: Breeze icons are black on black.

Could you try the new instructions in the emacswiki? https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs?action= … re=Compare I had even worse issues, all of KDE would either hang, or it would kill the mouse and keyboard until replugging them and then even then be unable to open any graphical windows in that session. Turns out that having the "Requires=" or "Wants=" line in there was either launching plasma-ksmserver early or starting an extra copy of it, which didn't (yet?) have access to Xwayland and would crash. I don't think KDE has their systemd dependencies in quite the right order.

But I also don't think anyone really wants to launch all of KDE when they are just trying to start emacs... This also prevent logging in to a non-graphical session as whatever user has this set up without first starting a graphical session or isolating away from the graphical target as the Requires/Wants line will try to start all of kde as an emacs dependency when just logging in. Which is horrible for debugging.

Without these lines it does the right thing: wait if the graphical server is already starting, and launches in text mode if it isn't. (I haven't used gnome in decades now, but I suspect the same change should be made in that section of the wiki as well.)
