Solved: question about vs code

I installed vs code using UAR.  I found out after I did, that it is there using pacman, but under a different name.
So, now I get messages stating there is an update available but it downloads an installation package.  I'm unsure how to do that.
I'm wondering what the best policy is for addressing this situation.
Should I just remove visual-studio-code-bin and install the version named code using pacman?
If I issue pacman -S code it states there is a conflict and asks if I want it to remove visual-studio-code.  Should I do that?
Should I just learn how to do the upgrade from the downloaded install file?

I have put some time into setting up code with the additions and configuration and I would rather not have to do that all over.

So, I'm asking the experts.

EDIT:  Can I do the upgrade using

sudo yay -Sua

?

Re: Solved: question about vs code

I'm no expert and I don't use vscode[1] but -bin packages are dodgy by their very nature — you have no clue what the program is actually doing because the source code used to build it is unavailable.

By contrast the code package in [extra] is fully reproducible: https://reproducible.archlinux.org/

So say "yes" to the replacement question and use the official package instead. I'm pretty sure the extant configuration files from the -bin package would also apply to the official version. No idea about "additions" though, I don't even know what they are :-)

Re: Solved: question about vs code

The copy of vs code installed by pacman does not have the capability of installing PlatformIo.  At lease I couldn't find a way.
So, I reinstalled the version for AUR.
