Download speed is very slow

Even with an Ethernet cable connected download speed is very slow, why?
It is about 50 Mbps when it has to be at least 500 Mbps.

My `lscpi`:

I tried installing `r8168` but is still the same.

Anybody knows how to fix this?
Thanks!.

Re: Download speed is very slow

You're ISP is scamming you?
Your cat has chewed up the cable?
Cosmic rays?

1. What download?
Try the linode speedtest from Get ABBS for an actual metric (cause the remote host could be slow or, with your results, you're conflating bits and bytes)

2. How do you configure your network?
Post the output of

find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -f

3. Which NIC are you actually using?

ip a; ip r

Hardware is ok.

I'm trying to download a game from Steam, I've red they had a problem with downloads, but none of these solutions worked.

With ABBS I get around 1-10MB/s:

$ ./abbs net speed

1) Newark, USA 7) Sidney, Australia
2) Singapore                         8) Atlanta, USA
3) London, UK 9) 東京都 (Tokyo), 日本国 (Japan)
4) Frankfurt, Deutschland 10) मबई (Bombay), Bhārat (India)
5) Dallas, USA 11) Fremont, USA
6) Toronto, Canada

Enter location: 5

1) 100MB
2) 1GB

Select size: 2

/dev/null                22%[=====>                        ] 222.93M  1.56MB/s    eta 2m 30s

But in speedtest.net I get a max of 520 Mbps of download which is ok, so I think this is more a problem with Steam...

Re: Download speed is very slow

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p2143605 ?

Though

ABBS I get around 1-10MB/s

in speedtest.net I get a max of 65 MB/s

Is worrysome, did you test a different location?

Also, can you test the behavior on enp3s0 instead of the wifi?

Thanks!, following this guide:
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-tcp-tuning/

And adding into ` ~/.steam/steam/steam_dev.cfg`

@nClientDownloadEnableHTTP2PlatformLinux 0
@fDownloadRateImprovementToAddAnotherConnection 1.0

Seems to have increased the download speed almost to 500 Mbps.
