[Solved] Unable to resize windows in kwin/plasma when using xrdp

I've installed a virtual machine under windows Hyper-V as per instructions on https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Hyper-V.

I also installed hyperv and the integration services, X11 and Wayland works just fine.

To be able to use the sound through my windows host, I installed https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hype … ed-session.  This package works the best and was the only successful way to install xrdp and xrdpxorg successfully. Everything works fine, such as sound, local drives, etc.  Speed of X11 is a bit slow and moving windows around is not as smooth as using "native" direct access.  With a bit of tuning it became bearable for my basic usage.

But the only real showstopper is that when I hover near the window borders the cursor does not change into one that allows me to "grab" the window border and resize it.  It just remains a plain cursor.  With a bit of aiming I can try to grab the border and resize but it is really difficult.  I've been researching done the internet and failed to find anything that seems to be similar.

Re: [Solved] Unable to resize windows in kwin/plasma when using xrdp

The issue relates to cursor theming.  I was using the breeze theme and it is the somehow not behaving perfectly under xrdp.  Other themes are somewhat change the cursor but in odd ways.  The only one that works well is KDE classic cursor theme.  When re-selecthing the breeze theme, I do get the cursor change but with the opposite cursor, i.e.  up/down resizing when it should be left/right and reversely for up/down.

The issue is resolved.  It was the  new_cursors setting in xrdp.ini which was on false.

So make sure the entry in /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini is set to
new_cursors=true
