Newbie - Can I have a heads up

Hi,

On Ubuntu at the moment looking to install over weekend

Using VS Code 80% of the time for
  - Web Development
  - MCU Development in Rust
Writing Docs in Libre Office
Docker

Is there anything I should be aware of before moving the Arch Linux

Ran FreeBSD, Fedora, Redhat so not ignorant but hard not built the kernel for years.

I don't like building code  to use not because of the process but because it is hard to repeat generally e.g make configure, make, sudo make install but not make uninstall

If there is something I should read or a good youtube given this usage

I am expecting
- a different package manager
- gui not as pretty
- faster machine
- faster updates

I do need my VS Code this is deal breaker for work but look fine on google

Hope it does sound too grippy, for warned, is forearmed

The only supported installation methods are by following the official guide or by using archinstall, which is included on the ISO images. If you follow random YouTube videos or use a different script you cannot seek support on these boards. Almost all YouTube videos are outdated and/or incorrect anyway so steer clear of those. Especially ones done by Luke Smith.

If you install via archinstall, be sure to set the home (or was it root)? to bigger than the default 20GB

Arch isn't that hard if you can use a terminal, it only gets hated for its tty default.

Who told you you got to build a kernel? Arch isn't gentoo or lfs! (again, arch isn't that hard...)

Just take some time choosing a window manager/desktop environment, as it will define how you're desktop will look like (yes, you can change it later too)
(and you're choise isn't limited between gnome and kde)

Why I run Arch? To "BTW I run Arch" the guy one grade younger.
And to let my siblings and cousins laugh at Arsch Linux...
