Ok, I disable compositor in xfce, turn transparency on in conky ..... problem still there.

There're several tools that can do this, no idea about ristretto and nomacs apparenly can't, https://github.com/nomacs/nomacs/issues/809
feh is < 500kB

Ok, I use fhe to fillup the background and activate transparency in conky .... Now, characters doesn't overlap ... background of conky window is the image, anyway, other thing like icons where not visibile (of course, it's not important, I don't want icons under the conky windows, but I want to add details to what happens).

Icons are normal - it's fake transparency and only shows the root pixmap as window background.
And apparently is the problem, whatever used to set the root pixmap before fails after the udpate.
Actual transparency requires a compositor and "own_window_argb_visual yes"

I tried, and works fine.

Conky keeps painting over itself since there's no defined structure to "erase" the background. This will get you this effect, notably since the painted output will slightly vary (different numbers) between iterations.

Understood.
Anyway, thanks again for your help.
