rt2x00

Hi,

my WLAN adapter uses has a rt61 chipset. I'd like to use the kernel module of the rt2x00 package, but I can't get it working.

If I use "ifconfig wlan0 up" ifconfig shows only a message, that the device doesn't exist.

The modules are loadet correctly and the device is shown if i use "cat /proc/net/dev"

Some days ago, I used Ubuntu 6.10 with this module and it works with my card. Normaly I use the driver provided by Ralink and it works, but at the moment, I can't compile it, because of the kernel-headers (2.6.18!!!).

Can anybody help me?

DonGiovanni (sorry for my english)

Re: rt2x00

Ubuntu comes with a lot of firmwares built in. It might just be that you need to create /lib/firmware and cp rt61.bin there.
Here you go http://www.ralinktech.com/drivers/Linux … e_V1.2.zip

Re: rt2x00

Thanks...

But now I have a new Problem:

I can't connect to my AP. I do the following:

ifconfig wlan0 up
iwlist scan
iwconfig wlan0 essid "home" ap <mac>
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.178.21 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.178.255

Is there anything else to do? Do I anything wrong?

Re: rt2x00

I'm afraid I don't know...
These serialmonkey drivers have always been a little flaky for me as well. Thats why i use ndiswrapper instead. Have you tried the rt61 legacy drivers?
Do you need help making a package for them?

Re: rt2x00

I made me a package using the 2.6.18 kernel, but i can't compile it under the 2.6.19. How does the card work with ndiswraper?

Re: rt2x00

I solved the problem. I was able to compile the Ralink driver. There is a patch, wich solved the problem with compiling under the kernel 2.6.19.

I don't need the rt2x00 package anymore. Thanks for your help.

Re: rt2x00

I updated the rt61 package in aur so that it compiles with kernel 2.6.19. Feel free to use it.
