Re: [Solved] Xfce not showing the desktop enviroment.

(EE) Server terminated with error (1). Closing log file.se also check the log file at “/home/gardenair/.local/share/Xorg//Xorg.0.log”
cat ~/.local/share/Xorg.0.log

No idea what happened to the posted output, but don't randomly stray blanks into the above command.

sudo systemctl enable lightdm … it only shows blinking prompt

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/LightD … TTY_output
… or when creating that file

Re: [Solved] Xfce not showing the desktop enviroment.

This appears to be a Core 2 system? I would recommend xf86-video-intel and mesa-amber for hardware that old, modesetting is not going to work well.

Re: [Solved] Xfce not showing the desktop enviroment.

Yes you are right it is an old computer. For such kind of computer which type of desktop you suggest ? or much batter to switch at least core  i5  system.

Re: [Solved] Xfce not showing the desktop enviroment.

The desktop environment doesn't matter (as long as it doesn't heavily rely on advanced opengl/features acceleration)

[ 1238.523] (WW) glamor requires at least 128 instructions (64 reported)
[ 1238.523] (EE) modeset(0): Failed to initialize glamor at ScreenInit() time.

Install the xf86-video-intel and mesa-amber packages as Scimmia suggested, you cannot use the modesetting driver/glamor here.
The alternative would be complete software emulation.

Re: [Solved] Xfce not showing the desktop enviroment.

Thanks "Scimmia" for your valuable guidance. Well, I install

sudo pacman -S xf86-video-intel
sudo pacman -S mesa-amber

then startxfce4   show the desktop environment. I want to  know that what are these  two packages i.e "xf86-video-intel "  and " mesa-amber " ? Are they video drivers  ? what are the purpose of these .
I am very happy that in an old computer Arch Linux is working that is the true beauty of Linux operating system that give the computer a new life.

Are they video drivers?

tl;dr: "yes"
