Can't load ICC : colord[5313]: CdMain: failed to load mapping database

I'm on Gnome/Wayland and want to load an ICC profile.

Gnome colormanager doesn't show any display.

My first attempt:

colormgr get-devices -v
Could not activate remote peer: startup job failed.

Then I was exploring colord

 journalctl -xeu colord.servsystemctl status
× colord.service - Manage, Install and Generate Color Profiles
     Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/colord.service; static)
     Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Thu 2024-02-01 20:12:59 -05; 22s ago

Switched to a new laptop, got the same issue. You could try:

people on the arch derivative forums have worked around this by downgrading colord. Dunno what i ought to do.
