f-spot crashing with ioexception [SOLVED]

I get this when starting f-spot

Seems related to this http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362601

....but I can't figure out what they mean by dbus socket.

I've tried building the latest release version from source and I get the same error when running it sad

Try run hal wink

# /etc/rc.d/hal start
$ f-spot
