Plymouth LUKS prompt, dot symbol replaced with unknown character.

Hello! First time posting. I've been using arch for a little under a month now. I'm using LUKS encryption on my root partition. Whenever I boot up I see plymouth prompt me for my password, when I first got setup the characters in the password box were all black dots like most password prompts. But after a while they have been replaced with a empty rectangular box. I suspect something changed in the font or something. What should I do to identify the root cause and come up with a solution?
