SSD not recognized by rpi imager

I have an external SSD that I use for storage on my rpi, but I want to reinstall raspiOS with rpi imager that does not recognize my SSD attached and seen by the laptop.

Re: SSD not recognized by rpi imager

I should start with this would probably be better suited for the Raspberry Pi forums.

Disregarding that though, it seems to be an issue with the RPi Imager, I'm not quite sure but I'm pretty sure it's seeing the SSD as an internal drive and therefore it's not showing it, and I don't really know how to fix that, so I'm just going to give you an alternative method without the Imager.

First you can download the image of raspiOS from raspberry pi's website, then you can dd(1) the image onto the block device, it should be noted that dd can and will overwrite data on the device specified and as a result can cause data-loss.

Then if I am correct the rest of the setup should be possible on the Raspberry Pi.
