update: bug is gone. I am not sure what changed.
Hello again, Arch Community,
I am Seeking Assistance with Persistent Audio Issues Using PipeWire on Arch Linux. This is a separate Arch system, from my other recent audio post (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=292683) as I am having different audio issues on each of my two main arch devices.
I've been experiencing persistent audio issues on my Arch Linux setup, specifically with PipeWire handling my audio output to external speakers. Despite the speakers working flawlessly on Windows, I encounter fuzzy audio and random speed-ups when using them on Arch. I've spent a considerable amount of time troubleshooting this issue, exploring various forums, and testing numerous configurations without any luck.
System Details:
OS: Arch Linux
Audio System: PipeWire
Hardware: [Include specific details about your speakers and sound card, if known]
Steps Taken:
Updated PipeWire: Ensured PipeWire and all related packages are up to date.
Configuration Adjustments: Tweaked pipewire.conf settings, including link.max-buffers, and experimented with different sample rates and buffer sizes.
ALSA and PulseAudio: Checked ALSA settings via alsamixer and ensured no conflicts with PulseAudio remnants.
Hardware Verification: Confirmed that the speakers are operational on a Windows setup, ruling out hardware issues.
Despite these efforts, the audio issues persist—fuzzy sound quality with occasional and unexplained speed variations in audio playback. This has been a frustrating experience, not least because the same hardware setup works without issue in a different OS environment.
Seeking Guidance:
Has anyone encountered similar issues with PipeWire or audio output in general on Arch Linux?
Are there known compatibility issues with specific hardware setups that I should be aware of?
Could there be overlooked system settings or configurations that might resolve these audio inconsistencies?
Any suggestions for alternative troubleshooting steps or configurations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my post. Any insights, suggestions, or guidance from the community would be incredibly valuable as I navigate this issue.
