[SOLVED] [Plasma 6] No touchpad found

My touchpad used to work fine under Plasma 5. I upgraded KDE Plasma to version 6 RC2 from kde-unstable repo.
Since then KDE does not detect my touchpad. "No touchpad found" in Plasma settings.

My touchpad does work in Plasma, but I cannot change "invert scrolling direction" or any other setting, which is annoying.

Installed packages

extra/libinput 1.25.0-1 [installed]
extra/xf86-input-libinput 1.4.0-1 (xorg-drivers) [installed]
extra/xf86-input-synaptics 1.9.2-1 (xorg-drivers) [installed]

libinput detects the touchpad:

Moving to the [testing] subsection...

Generally speaking kde-unstable is a testing repo, so the logical correlation is and has to be that you enable all of the other testing repos as well and do a full system upgrade. If you didn't do that do that reboot and retry.

Other than that start systemsettings in the terminal and post the output.

Random guess, it's quite likely that the synaptics xorg compat got dropped and you still actually using the synaptics backend on xorg by virtue of having that package, what happens if you remove xf86-input-synaptics and reboot/restart Xorg.

Re: [SOLVED] [Plasma 6] No touchpad found

Of course I enabled all *-testing repos too when I enabled kde-unstable.

Now when I uninstalled xf86-input-synaptics my touchpad is detected again and I can configure it. You were right, thanks!
This requires fixing plasma 6 packages to conflict with xf86-input-synaptics.

Re: [SOLVED] [Plasma 6] No touchpad found

It don't think it needs any fixing. Just because an optional component gets broken by that, you'd not want to force that arbitrarily on people that might have different environments installed. And you generally can still configure all the relevant xorg information via xinput just not via KDE's own GUI.

There should not be many people still relying on xf86-input-synaptics regardless (though I still occasionally lament the loss of a global and widget independent coasting implementation that was possible with synaptics, it's likely generally better for this to get implemented properly and correctly within the toolkits/applications, but I still liked the feature, especially because the way it was implemented meant it even worked on dogshit 2007 touchpads)
