For some reason I can't adjust my backlight I think it's because the amdgpu driver is not loading properly. I have used this laptop with an Arch/i3 setup multiple times it's not a HW issue. I'm still pretty new so there really might be something blatant I'm just not getting.
xf86-video-amdgpu wasn't installed so I installed that along with the ati variant and vulkan-radeon still the driver doesn't seem to load.
I've tried various kernel parameters and followed with
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfgAnd now that I've taken out the acpi_backlight=(either vendor or video) I've lost devices with brightnessctl that I could adjust, although no actual brightness change would happen.
It also seems even when I do have the acpi_backlight=video parameters set the output of (from memory)
cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightnessis still zero.
Also the systemd-backlight service isn't listed with
sudo systemctl --type=serviceHere's various system outputs with my current parameters:
sudo lspci -v -s 04:00.0

xf86-video-anything doesn't have anything to do w/ the kernel modules, nor do the vulkan drivers.
Try the regular kernel and the please post your complete system journal for the boot:
sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.stOffline

Do you have linux-firmware installed?
Offline
AthrBT_0x31010000.dfu is missing, too - so "no"
And since there's really no other obvious problem, that's probably all.

Yeah that was it. Thanks both you for helping a newbie.

In the interest of making this more useful to anyone viewing this and for my own reading.
