Re: [RESOLVED] Webcam stop working after upgrade

Hi,

The only thing I see different is the wireplumber message and that is not really a problem. So since you report that from last week your web camera stopped working, pipewire was updated on 2024-02-02 which corresponds to the previous week. I would try to downgrade pipewire and see if the camara is working again. I would also check the Pipewire video section: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PipeWire#Video and mess around with it.

I hope I have gave you a starting point to find the culprit.
Best regards,

What if you plug it into one of the USB3 hubs?
Does the LTS kernel still work?

Re: [RESOLVED] Webcam stop working after upgrade

It's very strange, I tried everything you said (downgrade pipewire, lts kernel ...), in the end I just unplugged the webcam and reconnected on another usb port and it worked ... what a waste of time!

Thank you all for your help.

Re: [RESOLVED] Webcam stop working after upgrade

The key was "cannot get freq at ep 0x82", the signal on the bus is fudged - maybe the webcam draws more power than the usb 2 hubs provide - this could have been on the edge w/ 0.5A standard and many hubs getting your randomly more, just about enough if the cam requires USB3 but really only 0.6A, not 0.9A.

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

what a waste of time!

Not if you learned something and/or somebody else benefits from these findings in the future.
