Problems following install of vanillia ArchLinux

My apologies If I have posted this in the wrong place or if I have missed a post on the same problem with a solution.

I've been using ArcoLinux for several years and I am quite happy with it.

However, I decided to try setting up Vanilla Arch.
I didn't think I could cope with the standard installation procedure so I used ARCHINSTALL which worked fine.

Everything appeared to be working OK.

However, I thought I'd make my life easier by installing PAMAC & ARCHLINUX TWEAK TOOL both of which I have used before.

Still, everything appeared OK.

My next job was to install LIBRE OFFICE FRESH.
All went well until it prompted for optional updates.
I selected all of the updates and continued.
Immediately it came back with an ALPM LIBRARY error and the installation failed.

Now everything I try gives me ALMP errors including PAMAC -Syyu.

Can anyone assist, please?

Please don't capitalize commands or package names, it makes it harder to gauge if you had typos.

Please post the alpm errors in question. Do not paraphrase, just copy them (in code tags) including the command(s) you ran to get them.

OK - Sorry, I knew I'd do something wrong.

I'll come back with errors as soon as I can.

The "uu" is generally used in a downgrade command. Please do not otherwise use it.

If you have alpm errors, you should rebuild pamac and try again

Re: Problems following install of vanillia ArchLinux

Hello and welcome to the community! smile

Please post the actual errors you are getting from a pacman invocation, along with the exact command line you are typing in your terminal to get these errors. Pacman and pacman only. If you’re using non-English locale, please prepend LANG=C before the invocation. For example:

LANG=C pacman -Syu

Please copy the text from terminal exactly as it is. Without complete, exact errors even our crystal ball isn’t going to be helpful. wink

In general, while waiting for the error log: the core principle of Arch is that you are the administrator. If you delegate this task to other people — in particular with some “tweak tools” — you yourself can’t tell, what havoc did they wreaked in your system.⁽¹⁾ Much less can be said by us. There is also a huge warning on the Arch Wiki page on AUR helpers: that they are unsupported and one should understand how things work “the kosher way”. Please remove pamac and don’t use it until this condition is met.

Yes, I know it’s harder. I’m myself culpable of using yaourt⁽²⁾ in my early years — for which I would slap the younger self with a wet whale to death. But there is really a reason to that.
____
⁽¹⁾ There are some exceptions, like powetop, but they print to the screen what they’re changing and the changes are not permanent. So they act more like hint providers with convenient testing feature, not the traditional “let us do this for you” tools.
⁽²⁾ An early, now discontinued AUR helper. A great contribution from our community, but unfortunately filled with enormous number of bugs, security vulnerabilities, and questionable decisions.

Re: Problems following install of vanillia ArchLinux

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions and tried to help.
My subsequent attempts investigate the problem just revealed more problems.
My system  is a mess so I've decided to reinstall leaving out pamac & tweak and try to get to grips with pamac as intended.
