This happens at random and it's not so frequent. Eventually, going back and forth, it starts working after a while, but when it does not it's very annoying.
This first happened in Kate. I thought it was some bug in the app.
But then I started seeing it in other apps. In Siril, for example (an astrophotography app), sometimes I cannot type anything anywhere. Mouse works, some keys work (e.g. escape), but I cannot type.
I have also noticed in Firefox, while typing works everywhere, sometimes there's no blinking cursor, so I have to guess where is my line of typing.
Using latest AMD Mesa drivers with AMD 6650XT card.
When I restart into X11 all is good.

Just for the record, I have uninstalled amd-opencl proprietary drivers and installed rusticl mesa and we'll see if that makes any difference.

Plasma Wayland seems to have extreme weirdness with mouse and cursor behavior. In my case, the cursor/pointer switch is random and I am sometimes clicking an icon with a cursor instead of a pointer. I can usually type if the focus is a text field of some sort. I suspect something between Kwin and Qt is the problem. I also have a Gnome session which doesn't have this type of issue and likewise Plasma X11.

Does it help to "export WLR_NO_HARDWARE_CURSORS=1" in /etc/profile* (effectively only to the plasma session but this should apply regardless of how you start that)?

Opencl driver doesn't mean anything for this.
I've noticed in Siril for example, on certain window menu I cannot type, enter or press any buttons with a mouse sometimes, but if I un-maximize the app, that menu starts working nicely.
It's definitely related to the window and the app positions. Not sure if it's wayland related or how Kwin handles wayland.
Then again I'm not sure if this issue is related to the disappearing typing cursor line in Firefox?

In this thread, it's recommended to force software cursor. I tried it myself and seems to work
