emacs-nox ignoring xfce4-terminal color palette

I noticed my emacs theme is no longer getting rendered correctly with emacs 29.1.

It looks like the color palette I set in the xfce4-terminal settings is getting ignored by emacs now. Below is a screenshot of emacs 29.1 vs emacs 27.2. The right is what I expect it to look like.

colors

I have term set to screen256-color.

What happens if you let the emulator set TERM? Setting it manually is usually a bad idea.

Disclaimer: I have to use vim as penance because I need non-free firmware so I don't know much about EMACS.

Re: emacs-nox ignoring xfce4-terminal color palette

It defaults to xterm-256color and the colors are still off.

Re: emacs-nox ignoring xfce4-terminal color palette

You could try the xterm-color package : https://github.com/atomontage/xterm-color

You could also try running the emacs or emacsclient with the -nw option.

The OP has not been back since December 2023, so I am going to consider this thread abandoned and close it now.
