Any way to remove the message when you login in Archiso?

I'm creating a custom version of arch with GDM, and when i try to login i just get a broken version of the welcome message and it does not login. How do you get rid of this?

Do you seriously expect any help if you cannot be bothered to describe your issue properly?

How did you make this custom archiso?
Please post all of the relevant configuration files as well as the commands that you use and their outputs.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Re: Any way to remove the message when you login in Archiso?

That still not telling what it is you did that lead to this motd message shown in your GDM screen.
Please do what Slithery asked you to do!

If this has something to do with the Archiso files, the Archiso team would also like to know.
I'm not seeing this message myself, only a blink of it for than a scripted login manager is shown without this message

That is /etc/motd. As for why GDM doesn't like it (or the ANSI escapes in it) I have no idea.

Re: Any way to remove the message when you login in Archiso?

@nl6720, Yep, I didn't think it could only be the escapes, but it is, you're right.

@ksp-atlas, replace airootfs/etc/motd with this, it only is the text:

To install Arch Linux follow the installation guide:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installation_guide

For Wi-Fi, authenticate to the wireless network using the iwctl utility.
For mobile broadband (WWAN) modems, connect with the mmcli utility.
Ethernet, WLAN and WWAN interfaces using DHCP should work automatically.

After connecting to the internet, the installation guide can be accessed
via the convenience script Installation_guide.

Re: Any way to remove the message when you login in Archiso?

I also got this message (both in GDM and in the console when I log into my home server). Only happened since my last re-install (end of 2023), as I took the easy route and used the Arch Calamares installer from alci.online
As a fix, I just did `sudo nano /etc/motd` after installing and deleted the text. No clue as to why GDM writes it out in such an ugly manner.

Re: Any way to remove the message when you login in Archiso?

You can simply delete /etc/motd. As for installing by coping things from the ISO, read https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Offline_installation:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Offline_installation wrote:

Warning: Extracting the root file system image (airootfs.sfs) from the ISO or copying the live environment's root file system is not a supported installation method.

This old thread is about the ISO, not about what your distro did, and make no mistake, you did not install Arch, you installed something else.
