Hello, I wanted to run pacman -Su today and saw it is about to upgrade my xfree to 4.4
I don't have a problem with it but I just wanted to know what will it do to my configuration files and fonts.
will the XF86config keep the same format or did they change things?
Will I need to reinstall my non-regular fonts (hebrew and such which I installed manually)?
If anyone did the upgrade already I'd appreciate if he'd post what kind of things changed and what did he have to change/fix afterwards..
Thank you in advance,

I did the update. All things work like they did before. I noticed nothing new, the old config is still running, nvidia is still up, call of duty is still braking my X after leaving it ... ... donnow why all that hype ...

If you're using a different global cursor theme, you'll have to edit your index.theme, but it should stick around if it's in a .XResources.

I noticed one strange thing after X upgrade (or it's just my imagination :-)) - the fonts (ms verdana) in opera menus look ugly (like with no antialiasing or something). This affects only the menu fonts - everything else is ok (including fonts on web pages). I didn't find any errors in logs too. This is not critical :-) so for now I'm going to leave it as it is. All other things work fine so far.

For your fonts, try specifying the 'DisplaySize'
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "My Monitor"
...
DisplaySize 350 275 #width height
...measure your display in mm for the values.

Thank you all for your replys, I did the upgrade and everything went smoothly. It kept my configuration and all my fonts and I didn't notice any problems yet.
Once again a great job for the archlinux team, way to go ! :-)
