[SOLVED] Switching filesystems and backing up data

Hello all,
I have recently installed arch and set my filesystem to be ext4. I have found some uses of btrfs that i would like to try. How would i be able to switch file sysems?

The Arch Wiki recommends using btrfs-convert but there is a disclaimer that it may fail and corrupt my install.
I have a blank hard drive that i could use as a secondary storage but i do not know how to restore the install manually.

I have installed Timeshift and tried to backup my data to a usb stick through it, but i would like to also save my /home and /root which may be too much for it as it often crashes before finishing a restore point.
What could be an easy to use program or command that is simple to understand and use to backup all of my data onto another disk (or the same one) and restore it in a different file system?

Thanks for reading,
deeter
