Show static background image in plymouth boot screen

I can add splash to the kernel parameters and select available splash screens during boot as the wiki suggests. But I don't want the splash screen. I want the plymouth boot messages to show up upon a static background image. For example I can set background images for grub boot menu. I want to do the similar for plymouth booth screen. How can I do that?
