Last night, I updated the system via
pacman -SyuThe update to Plasma 6 took place—among a few other packages (I forget which). Following that, the OS wouldn't allow me to reboot nor shut down via the interface. I went to bed.
This morning, I attempted to do my due diligence vis a vis Google and these here forums, but found no information pertaining to my problem. Any ideas where to begin with this situation?
I use Wayland as my server.

Had the same issue. Solved it by rebooting via terminal.

Alright. Let me try that...
And you've been able to reboot and shut down via the GUI ever since?

Yes, I have. Only needed to do this once.

The problem is that the plasma update removes and replaces a bunch of binaries that your (currently running) Plasma 5 can of course not access anymore.

Cool deal, fellas. Terminal reboot ended with success.
One perk of Arch is repo diversity. However, this diversity can lead to problems stemming from package maintenance, leading to system instability. Personally, I've only ever had GRUB boot problems—which never was a maintenance issue.
This Plasma 6 thing I experienced made me wonder if I encountered my first package issue. Technically, I've been on Arch for 6 months; practically, I've used it for 2 months.
